Why White Dragon

White represents good, light, purity, innocence, morality and so much more. White is the most powerful of colours. When White light is split a rainbow is seen. From mixing of these seven colours every other colour can be created, including black. It is the first and the last and will always conquer darkness. When one starts his/her journey in Tae Kwon Do, one begins as a White belt, gradually one reaches black belt, and eventually, one wears his/her black belt so long it fades and becomes White again, representing a completion of a journey, coming full circle and a mastering of knowledge and one self

In the orient, Dragons are not viewed as evil beasts, like the medieval Dragons of Western Europe. Instead they are seen as being wise and benevolent creatures worthy of respect and honour. They are seen as a creative and active force of good, not evil. Dragons brought rain to heal the land and create anew. They were celebrated as a power for good

Martial Arts was chosen instead of Taekwon-do because we are open to the techniques, philosophies and ideals of other styles. Also, the word art is very important to us as Taekwon-do is far more than an exercise or a sport. Its history, traditions and etiquette are fundamental to our training.

Little can stop a Dragon and when combined with the quality of White, the knowledge of coming full circle, they are indeed a power to be reckoned with: White Dragon

Mr. Trevor Fradgley - Chief Instructor

Mr. Trevor Fradgley began training in 1992 at the age of 11. He joined up with a small club in Brooklodge, Co. Cork under Mr. Brian Buckley, chief instructor of Great Southern Taekwon-do (GST). He immediately fell in love with the art and dedicated himself to his training.

Through the years, Mr. Fradgley has partaken in many tournaments, most notably the 1998 Taekwon-do International world championships where, at the age of 16, he represented his country and reached the quarterfinals. He also fought in the 2002 event held in Miami where he lost out to the eventual winner.

Grading under Master Norman Creedon 7th dan, he achieved his first, second and third degree black belts. In May 2003 under the examination of Master David Oliver 7th degree black belt and president of Taekwon-do International, he was awarded his 4th degree.

Mr Fradgley began solo instructing in 2002 when he opened his first clubs. White Dragon Martial Arts was born in October 2004 following an amicable split from GST. Since then the association has thrived, and we have teamed up with Mr. Ruairi O'Brien, Chief Instructor Of Redking Taekwon-do. This partnership has led to a higher level required to grade through the ranks resulting in a better quality student.
